Step-by-step endoscope setup
- First plug the camera into your computer's USB port.
- The LED lights should turn on when plugged in.
- Open your camera software.
- For Windows users, open the program called "Camera"
- Toggle between cameras until "integrated webcam" becomes active.
- Orient endoscope.
- With the live video on the screen, make a mark on the “top” of the endoscope to aid with orientation and use.
(A Sharpie® works great). - This way you always know which way to hold the endoscope when using it in the ear canal.
- With the live video on the screen, make a mark on the “top” of the endoscope to aid with orientation and use.
- Correct the ear's alignment.
- To get the best alignment of the ear canal, pull the ear up and back.
- Watch the video as you approach the ear drum.
- Cleaning the lens.
- If you encounter ear wax, an alcohol wipe can be used to clean the camera lens.
- Saving a manual screenshot Double-click on the the video or open it in the "Movies & TV" program
- Next, scroll on the video to an image showing the ear drum.
- Click "Edit in Photos", and then "Save a photo from video"
- A new window will open in the “Photos” program. Click on “Save a photo”
- You are now ready to upload your photo and use the comparison tool

- For Mac users, open the program called "QuickTime"
- Under the “FILE” menu open a “New Movie Recording
- Make sure to select the endoscope from the list of camera options
- Guide the endoscope.
- With the live video on the screen, make a mark on the “top” of the endoscope to aid with orientation and use.
(a Sharpie® works great). - This way you always know which way to hold the endoscope when using it in the ear canal.
- With the live video on the screen, make a mark on the “top” of the endoscope to aid with orientation and use.

- Watch the video monitor as you approach the ear drum.
- Cleaning the lens.

- Select an appropriate image to upload
- Scroll through the QuickTime video to find a video frame that best shows the ear drum.
- Copy the image to the clipboard using the Edit menu in QuickTime.
- Save the image for future upload
- In a separate window open Apple Preview
- Using Preview save the image to your computer as an image file
- You are now ready to upload the image and use our comparison tool

- Install the Screencastify extension from the chrome web store.
With the Chrome browser open, open the extension.
- Record a video using the endoscope (usually listed as integrated web cam).
- Orient endoscope.
- With the live video on the screen, make a mark on the “top” of the endoscope to aid with orientation and use. (A Sharpie® works great).
- This way you always know which way to hold the endoscope when using it in the ear canal.

- Double-click on the the video or open it in the "Movies & TV" program
- Next, scroll on the video to an image showing the ear drum.
- Click "Edit in Photos", and then "Save a photo from video"

- You are now ready to upload your photo and use the comparison tool
